We will be performing the “Christmas” portion of Messiah using the Watkins Shaw/Novello Handel Edition. This is a sing-along concert – the audience will be invited to sing-along on all seven choruses. Four soloists will be performing along with the Festival Choir..

A score will be provided for you if you do not already have one. We use the Watkins/Novello score. If you would like to keep your score at the commencement of the concert, choir members may purchase their score for $10. Rehearsal CDs will be provided at rehearsals. Also, links for each part for all choruses can be found at CyberBass.com.

Rehearsal Schedule

Weekly Rehearsals: Tuesday evenings, beginning October 3, from 7:30-9:00pm
Dress Rehearsal: Friday, December 15 from 6:30-8:30pm
Please Note: Regardless of which concert you may be performing in, attendance at the dress rehearsal is mandatory unless prior arrangements have been made with either Brian Burns or Karen Ferguson. This will be a complete run-through with all singers, musicians, and soloists. Seating will be assigned.
Location: Calvary United Methodist Church, 971 Beech Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15233 (Northside on the Corner of Beech Ave & Allegheny Ave)
Parking: Street parking and parking lot off Allegheny Ave across from the Presbytery.

Concert Day – Saturday, December 16, 2022

1:15pm: Arrival time
1:30pm: All choir called and seated
2:00pm: Add soloists and orchestra
2:45pm: Group photo (Saturday Only)
3:00-4:00pm: Relax and have fun in the Chapel with your fellow performers
3:15pm: Doors open
4:00-5:15pm: Performance
5:15pm: Cookie reception follows performance in the Victorian Chapel onsite

Concert Day – Sunday, December 17, 2022

2:30pm: Please be seated and ready to go
3:00-4:00pm: Relax and have fun in the Chapel with your fellow performers
3:15pm: Doors open
4:00-5:15pm: Performance
5:15pm: Cookie reception follows performance in the Victorian Chapel onsite

Concert Attire

Women: All black concert wear. Nothing too sparkly, please.
Men: Black pants, long-sleeve white or black dress shirt and dark color tie.
Soloists: Concert attire as per past concerts.
Musicians: Concert attire as per past concerts.
