SLEEPING BAG GROUP

The sleeping bags are made from recycled materials, packed with personal items such as toothpaste, shampoo, hats, and gloves then distributed to nearby homeless shelters. There is plenty to do. DAILY BREAD — UNITED WOMEN IN FAITH (UWF)

The United Women in Faith (UWF) organizes the meal being prepared for the Daily Bread which serves meals three times a week to those without a home or who are under-employed. They are currently in need of cookie makers. See Joan Bradley if you would like to get involved or for further information.

NORTHSIDE COMMON MINISTRIES “CELEBRATION OF CARING” DINNER

NORTHVIEW HEIGHTS FOOD (NVH) DISTRIBUTION
Saturday, November 4 & Saturday, December 2 | 9:00-10:30am | Northview Heights
Many thanks to everyone who as participated in the distribution of fresh produce to residents of NVH. All participants have found it to be a rewarding experience, and we would love to have some new volunteers as well. Six volunteers are needed for each date. There is a sign-up sheet in the Chapel, and a written description of the work. Please feel free to contact Stacey Chervon (stc38@pitt.edu) or Linda Ehrlich (laehrlich927@aol.com) for any questions.

“CHANGE MATTERS” SPECIAL OFFERING

Our children collect "change" because when there is lots of change together, we can make a difference. These gifts are used to help Women United in Faith purchase food for Daily Bread.

NORTHSIDE COMMON MINISTRIES CONTINUES TO NEED TOOTHPASTE
TOOTHPASTE continues to be a weekly need at the pantry. Jana Thompson, Director, would like Calvary to continue to collect it as she can then have it on the weekly grocery list available to the patrons. We continue to have a wonderful response from the generous hearts of our Calvary family! There are 2 collection bins — one at the Allegheny entrance and the other in the Parlor/Chapel. Cloth grocery bags also continue to be collected. Thank you!

CALVARY CLEAN-UP DAY

We will be having a clean-up day at Calvary to get the church ready for the fall and winter as well as the Advent and Christmas season which will be soon upon us. David Grinnell (grinnell@pitt.edu) is coordinating outdoor tasks and Brian Burns (bsburns77@aol.com) is coordinating indoor tasks. If it rains, everyone will be moved inside. Please reach out to either Brian or David with questions.

“THANK YOU FOR BEING OUR NEIGHBOR!” SUNDAY

Join us in this outreach to our neighborhood. 100 potted mums, which will be in the altar area and blessed during morning worship, attached with a note of appreciation, will be delivered around this immediate neighborhood following church.

HANGING OF THE GREENS
Saturday, December 2 | 9:00am-3:00pm | Calvary
Please join us as we decorate the church for the Advent and Christmas season. There are jobs for everyone! WE WILL FIND A JOB THAT SUITS YOUR PARTICULAR TALENTS :) We need all the help we can get and it's a lot of fun. Of course, we will have donuts, snacks, coffee, tea, etc., so come join us and have some fun getting our church ready for Advent and Christmas!

Want to make a difference? Join the fun and consider being a tutor at The Bridge Learning Hub. One hour a week can help a child lean and grow. Interested? READING MENTORS NEEDED
There is a need for reading mentors at Morrow Elementary School. We are looking for weekly volunteers. Please see Rev. Beth Nelson or contact the church office for further information.

ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS SEASON
The Advent and Christmas season at Calvary is always busy, fun, exhausting, memorable, and meaningful. Before you know it, we will be looking for volunteers to help out at the many events that Calvary offers to the public during December. We will once again be hosting the Old Allegheny Victorian Christmas House Tour. There are also the 11th Annual Messiah Sing-Along Concerts and Christmas Eve Services. More information will follow as the season approaches. Please consider how you can help make this season special for Calvary as well as our community.

BIBLE STUDY LED BY REV. MYLES BRADLEY

“Father Abraham” is the topic of a new Bible Study led by Rev. Myles Bradley on Wednesday evenings here at Calvary. The six week study will review the story in Genesis of the father of the Jewish people and the three faiths that are shared by his descendants. Everyone is invited to share in exploring the roots of our faith. We will continue meeting through October.

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY

Join us as we study "Living Beyond Yourself: Exploring the Fruit of the Spirit" by Beth Moore. Beth Moore has an excitement and an exuberance for the Gospel and will involve you on an adventure into discovery and growth in the Spirit of the Lord. John 14 tells us that God gives us the Holy Spirit to be in us – Christ in us, the hope of glory.

CALVARY WOMEN'S RETREAT

The United Women of Faith are coordinating a half-day retreat for ALL women of Calvary. Titled "FROM SERVANT TO SELF", the retreat will be led by our very own Reverend Jorinda Bullitt. The retreat will be scheduled from 9:00 am to 12:30, with lunch. Child care will also be available if needed. Watch for more details in the coming weeks, but please put this date on your calendar now.

UNITED WOMEN IN FAITH (UWF) — VICTORIAN HOUSE TOUR & SHOPPE
The Allegheny West Victorian House Tour is Friday, December 8th and Saturday, December 9th. There will be a holiday shoppe in Calvary’s Fellowship Hall both days. The UWF will have a booth at the Shoppe as one of our major fundraisers. The plan is to sell donated pre-owned Christmas items and new handmade items from anyone in the Calvary congregation. Handmade items and Christmas decorations that are clean and in good repair will be accepted beginning November 1st until November 26th. Please contact Linda Ehrlich or Kim Butler with questions or an idea for a homemade item that you would like to donate. Items can be dropped off either after church on a Sunday or during the week by contacting Linda (412-512-7246 / laehrich927@aol.com) or Kim (412-638-7773 / kimabutler4@gmail.com).

We will have crafts, pumpkin painting, and games, and possibly Trunk-or-Treat depending on the number of cars that sign up. More details to come!

PARENTS NIGHT OUT

We will do Christmas activities, cookie decorating, crafts, games, and dinner. This will give parents time to finish shopping and be able to wrap presents. We will also have a Christmas Shop for kids to shop for parents. More details to come!
